Does ODBC cause lower performance?

ODBC is just an API definition. To judge the effect in ODBC API is meaningless. The real effect with performance occurs when implementing the ODBC driver, not the ODBC API definition. When we discuss the performance of ODBC, it should be a question of whether the ODBC Driver product performance is good or not? For example, we cannot consider a car's performance by excogitation(ODBC), and then directly judge whether the car engine(ODBC) was good or not.
