How do I install DBMaker for Windows or Unix/Linux?
DBMaker supports Windows 95/98, Windows NT/2000/XP, Solaris, SunOS, Linux,
and DG/UX operating systems. There is a setup program for each operating
system, which guides you through the process of installing DBMaker on
your computer.
The DBMaker setup program installs all DBMaker components (the database
server, database client, ODBC driver, samples, and documentation). To
run the DBMaker setup program for your platform, follow the appropriate
instructions below.
Windows 95/NT Setup Instructions
-
Start your computer and insert the DBMaker compact disc into your
CD-ROM drive. The setup program should start automatically.
-
If the setup program does not start automatically, click on the
Start button, and then click on Run. Type d:\autorun.exe (be sure
to substitute the actual drive letter of your CD-ROM drive for d:)
in the Open text box and click on OK. The setup program will start.
-
The setup program allows you to install all the DBMaker components.
Click on Install DBMaker and follow the setup instructions on the
screen.
Unix and Linux Setup Instructions
-
Start your computer and insert the DBMaker compact disc into your
CD-ROM drive. You should mount your CD-ROM drive if it is not already
mounted.
-
Change your working directory to the Unix directory on your CD-ROM
drive. For example, if your CD-ROM drive is mounted as /cdrom, change
to the /cdrom/unix directory.
-
Change your working directory to the directory for the version of
Unix you are using. For example, if you are using the Solaris operating
system on a Sun workstation, change to the /cdrom/unix/solaris.sun
directory.
-
Execute the program named setup and follow the setup instructions
on the screen.
